Direct Line Group

The Challenge

As part of our continued FMR commitment with our amazing client, Direct Line Group, Ascot were asked to replace the existing 3 x aged Boilers as 2 out of the 3, were not operational. Ascot Services had worked on these issues with our client for a number of years using spares from the inoperative boilers to maintain the site conditions but all parties agreed that this was not a sustainable approach.

The Objective

There were a number of options discussed with our client including re-purposing boilers from one of the clients other sites but it was agreed that the preferable option would be to install high efficiency boilers which in turn would offer a reduction in running costs. It was also agreed that with the correct ongoing maintenance regime being in place (another service that Ascot deliver for our client), a 5-year warranty would be offered from the manufacturer.

As we maintain the water quality via regular PPM inspections and laboratory tests, it was also offered, and accepted by our client, to install new inline water softeners due to the hardness of the water in the area where the site is located.

The Results

We successfully designed, installed, tested and commissioned 2 x new vaillant condensing boilers, complete with a new cascade flue system. We also installed a new plate heat exchanger, pressurisation unit and expansion vessel. All new mapress steel pipework was thermally insulated and cladded. On completion all plant was fully integrated into the estate wide BeMS.
